Pearl’s weekend plans are done for; with blocked drains, her house is turned into a public lavatory, sex starved Sonia fancies her husband, Her first love Andrew is after something, but what? The nutty baking neighbours are locked out and will Jim’s Heinkel ever be the same again?
The Cattrel family, (Jim, Pearl and Pop), moved into Cedar Grove six months ago without first checking who the neighbours were. (Sonia and Andrew Tork) Subsequently we discover not everything is as clear-cut as it might be. On the August Bank Holiday Friday, Pearl is hoping to be going away with her husband for the weekend.
Neighbours Alison and Jennifer, are accidentally locked out of their house but Jennifer needs to complete an important baking order. Neil is obliged to hide in Pearl’s house from his over-protective mother, and Pop’s eccentric toilet habits add to Pearl’s problems. Driven by curiosity, Andrew delves into his family tree, desperate for clues about his true identity; subsequently he unearths a hornet’s nest of lies and deceit, and the biggest shock of all is left for Pop himself.
